Alongside play counts, you can show advertisers how many people saw their ads, with estimated age group and gender breakdowns. What is AI camera audience measurement?
A camera mounted near the screen detects the people in front of it and counts how many of them looked at the screen. Play counts alone do not show this.
In the industry, this approach is often called anonymous audience analytics: the system detects that a face is present, rather than recognizing who the person is.

How personal data is handled
With Tokyo AdCast, camera images are converted into numerical features; no personally identifiable information is stored or collected.
Even so, capturing images of people in public spaces requires care. Check the points below wherever you install.
What to check before installing
- Post a clear notice that a camera is in use and what it is for
- Get permission from the venue owner or manager
- Mount the camera so viewers' faces stay inside its field of view
- Check local regulations, as privacy laws vary by country and region (for example, the GDPR in the EU or the CCPA in California)
